I like to design and make almost anything to do with audio equipment and more - from loudspeakers in various configurations, the electronic components that drive them, to furniture and other random products that might sometimes be non-audio related. My aim is to just enjoy designing and making the things I love, and to inspire others to do the same.

Building a High-end 3-Way Classic Vintage Style Speaker - by SoundBlab
Переглядів 147 тис.6 місяців тому
With the increasing popularity lately of the classic vintage styled large box format loudspeakers from manufacturers such as Wharfedale, KLH, PSB and others, I have set out to design and build my own version. It is a typical 3-way design with a tweeter, 4 inch mid-range and 8 inch woofer. The dimensions are roughly 600mm high, 300mm wide, and just short of 400mm deep. The result is a high-end l...
These SURPRISED ME! Building the Arylic TQWT 2-Way Floor Standing Speakers - by SoundBlab
Переглядів 50 тис.8 місяців тому
Listening to these speakers really surprised me. It sounds big and dynamic. The bass goes really low and from my perspective will not require a subwoofer at all. In-room response will easily go down into the mid-twenties. Listening for longer periods of time does not become fatiguing, with vocals and highs that are clear and does not get out of shape at higher volumes. The overall tone is neutr...

This Generator Quiet Box has a SECRET!
Переглядів 50 тис.Рік тому
This is no ordinary quiet box, specially built for a fairly large 7kW petrol generator. The inside features Helmholtz Absorber Panels to help reduce the noise and specific frequencies that the generator produces. The result is very effective at damping the noise, and I can stand right next to it and have a normal conversation with someone without shouting or even raising my voice even slightly....

Building a Small Passive Radiator Subwoofer- by SoundBlab
I aspire to be this good at building speakers. WoW! great build.
🎉🎉🎉
I have seen vids of people building speakers but this is exceptional!
Me perdoe a ignorância, pelo que posso notar não vejo como as ondas sonoras podem viajar de forma criar harmônicos com essa configuração, não me parece tecnicamente funcional.
Really a Great job ❤
I did a build out of almost all recycled materials (including 100mm repurposed 2-way car speakers) except the PVC washbasin pipes, and the sound quality really surprised me. Materials used were Ecolab solid soaps container for the bases, hollow cellophane wrap tubes x 2 and 2 x 1 kg Yoghurt tubs. LOL!!!
Great project! I will try to do something similar to that. Cheers from Brazil!
From experience, you have to stuff subs with fiber to keep the high bass from being boomy.
Now THIS is what I wanted to build. Not a plywood box with insulation slapped in. ...also a great warning against DEI lol.
Those walls are pretty low. 12 ft seems be a good height.
Can you do a before and after video?
You sir do excellent work!
Great job sir 👍
The design just does not scream"carry me around" it looks great on a piece of furniture in the living room or kitchen
I built a pair of these 3 years ago for my sister and she has them connected to her Smart TV as the source, and man I gotta say that they sound excellent. In fact, I'm building another set now. I just cut the wood yesterday and have all of the components and I should have them completed by next week...it would be sooner if I had more time but you all know that is. So I guess I'm saying that I highly recommend this build, you won't be disappointed.

Can you give me free measurements for this subwoofer box
Most detailed explanation of dampening a generator by talking about frequency and research source of their approach.
Just ran into your video and must say that it is a pleasure watching you work. Do you need a 53-year-old apprentice by any chance? 😉Thanks.
Im watching this video just so youtube can pay this gentlemen
beautiful
Good video thanks, but the Music is 🤬
Krásne 👌👌👌😎😎😎
🎉🎉🎉 LUAR BIASA...🎉 I'm from Indonesia I will follow you
@SoundBlab This video is great. It’s the first one I’ve seen that provides a detailed technical analysis on noise reduction. I’d love to see the final assembly and know if there are plans or a materials list to build something similar. A follow-up video on its performance over the years would be fantastic. I believe you could generate a lot of content on this project alone. Also it looks like you used independent panels, and I’d like to see how they are fastened, how to disassemble them for maintenance, and the overall mechanical aspects of the assembly. All aside thanks a lot for the video and the rest of your content. 😁
I started building speakers in the late 1960's and find your care in getting the small details right one of the best parts of your builds. Things like internal damping and good bracing, things that a lot of builders skimp on. Great Stuff!
Amazing sound
I am not a cabinet builder, but I am puzzled why speaker builders (not just on this video) glue cabinets and only then start drilling openings for drivers and crossovers etc? If you make mistake your whole cabinet is ruined. If you cut openings in boards before gluing, you only loose one board.
the heck your audio is humming. i thought it was my amplifier
What coat do I finish my print before graphite rub I tried over silver metallic and it just falls off it doesn’t rub in
The passive radiator model provides significantly more impact and clearer bass notes.
does graphite powder stain our hands if we touch it? or did you apply a clear finish on it after applying the powder?
You didn't make separate chambers for the woofer which you should or both driver interfere with each others air pressure
Booo

Thanks for sharing your experience! What was the before and after db?
Che piacciano oppure no almeno la musica era musica i cantanti cantavano e non sbiascicavano "parole" incapibili che se cerchi di capire quello che dicono ti perdi la musica, ti perdi la musica..............quale?
do you have a plan for sale?
how to calculator volume of speaker? calculator mean choose right volume, not calculator existed dimension
brilliant
Where can one find the plans for building this speaker?
I choose the port cos bass more kick & deep
Can you tell us more about this driver? Would you consider something else for a similar project?
Ugh! Contact cement. Better to use veneer glue and cauls clamped to the surface.
Wow! Absolutely fantastic job sir. Would love to know how long this took to complete. Maybe it’s in the description. Sorry, I haven’t read that first. Sounds incredible! Even through UA-cam!
I think it's an extra tweeters to get high well..
Can you provide some approximate dimensions? Impressive build. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you mentioned that the port doesn’t make it a true T-Line but more of a bass reflex/V-Tube combo 👍🏽 I bet this sounds lovely nonetheless 😊
Your diagram is quite confusing
